Peter Xu  許海平

Welcome! I'm currently completing my senior year in Economics at School of Economics, Renmin University of China. I spent Fall 2024 as a visiting student at UC Berkeley.

My research centers on comparative political economy and authoritarian governance.  I seek to understand how political institutions solve the fundamental tension between central control and local autonomy, especially how autocrats design bureaucratic mechanisms to incentivize local adaptation without sacrificing political loyalty.
